Mycelium & Myth: A Gathering Beneath the Surface

Step into a day woven with wonder, where roots speak and stories bloom. Join us for a deep and dreamlike journey through the tangled threads of nature, myth, and imagination.

Join us from 8am for a gentle yoga session and awaken your senses surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Create an oasis of calm within to carry you into the day, followed by warming coffee and a nourishing breakfast from our welcoming Home Kitchen hearth.

As the morning unfolds, the Heligan Home Stage becomes a portal into the forest’s hidden stories. Come together from 11am for a series of evocative talks and thoughtful encounters led by voices that bridge the worlds of ecology, folklore, and imagination. British mycologist and bestselling author Merlin Sheldrake shares insights from Entangled Life, inviting us to reimagine intelligence through the lens of fungi.

Wild writing expert Dr James Canton and nature writer Wyl Menmuir explore how landscape and language intertwine and delve into the connection between nature, place, and human connection. Author Lally MacBeth offers a spellbinding book launch for The Lost Folk, a celebration of forgotten lore and reawakened myth.

We will also be joined by ecologist and wildlife guide Dan Ryan, whose deep knowledge of the living land adds yet another engaging voice to this rich chorus of perspectives.

Step into the wild heart of Heligan with our Jungle Experience Talk — an immersive journey that uncovers the rich biodiversity, hidden histories and ecological wonders of this unique and iconic Jungle.

This is a day to listen differently, from fungi and folklore, to ancient trees and untold stories. A gathering beneath the surface, where the magic lies.

And sometimes, the most meaningful journey is the one where you lose yourself a little. In June, the gardens are in full bloom, offering quiet corners, hidden trails, and the kind of beauty that makes you feel, somehow, at home.

Beyond the stage, the festival continues to unfold across the landscape. Walkways meander through meadows alive with colour and pollinators. Pop-up musicians surprise and delight around quiet corners. Wellbeing spaces offer pause, reflection, and a chance to reconnect.

  • Family fun awaits in the vibrant Play Meadow, where little adventurers and grown-up explorers alike can enjoy archery, axe throwing, face painting, bubbles galore, and more.

  • When it's time to refuel, the Heligan Home Kitchen is open all day, serving delicious home-cooked dishes and soul-nourishing refreshments in a setting that feels like... well, home.
